Amberious’ ceramics is created in the atelier of Joanna Rajch. Joanna’s inspiration comes from nature, its natural beauty and energy. Through her extensive travels around the world it has also left a lasting impression on Joanna, particularly her time spent in Japan and its rich culture. Joanna handcrafts every object to perfection from the heart which gives each piece its own positive energy. Sculpture

An excellent combination of ceramic, metal & wood.
Wood is a beautiful and mysterious material. Black wood & Gold has its outstanding combination in Shou Sugi ban technique. Originating in 18th century Japan, shou sugi ban is a particularly striking method of preserving wood by charring it with fire in order to weatherproof it. Traditionally, this practice is used with Japanese cedar. The wood is burned until the surface is charred, and then coated with natural oil. It stays clean with matt finish. It can also be lacquered if used inside. For decorative purposes I also use brass and copper and different types of glazes – depending if the sculpture is for inside or outside use.

Artistic ceramics. Original and unique designs.

Every piece is hand sculptured including plates and tea cups.
I use the traditional Japanese kurinuki method – sculpturing each piece from one solid block of clay. This process makes every cup unique with personal touch.
Other techniques are wheel throwing or using a plaster mold.

Sumi -e hand painted and kintsugi like bowls and plates.

The passion for sumi-e paintings transferred on everyday ceramic objects.
Bowls and plates are hand painted in sumi-e technique. Then glazed and fired.
Bowl size ideal for soups have special holders for chopsticks. The paintings can be black as the original sumi-e traditional art or cobalt blue. Every piece is unique and not 100% duplicable.
The kintsugi art of repairing broken pottery is well known. It gives a very unique and noble look.
This technique is very time-consuming. I try to combine 2 different glazes so it has a similar but much modern style look than traditional kintsugi finish.

Amberious is a small art design company. After 15 years of searching the best way of expressing myself I opened my own business concentrating on unique ceramic tableware design and sculpture.
It gives me a lot of satisfaction and joy to create unique objects, trying new designs and combining ceramic with other materials such as wood or metal. My works are all heart and handmade objects that are from an idea becoming reality.

Care instructions for ceramics:

All plates, bowls, cups are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.
We use high quality materials, like stoneware clay and high temperature glazes to deliver food safe products. Due to firing in over 1200 degrees Celsius the clay becomes nonporous, so it doesn’t soak up liquids and becomes very hard.
The used glazes are 100% safe, free from heavy metals.
